The Scottish Chamber Orchestra is one of Scotland’s five National Performing Arts Companies, and is internationally recognised as one of the finest chamber orchestras in the world. Formed in 1974 with a commitment to serve the Scottish community, it is also one of Scotland’s foremost cultural ambassadors.

Creative Learning is at the core of the Scottish Ensemble's activity, forming an integral part of the group's identity. Exciting large and small-scale music projects are created in conjunction with a wide range of partners. The focus of these projects is to bring the inspirational musicians directly to participants in their local environment, nurturing musical skills while also encouraging development in other areas such as confidence, team-building, leadership and creativity.

Scottish Opera is Scotland’s national opera company and the largest performing arts organisation in Scotland.

We are committed to bringing the widest possible range of opera, performed to the highest possible standards, to the maximum audience throughout Scotland and the UK; each year we perform in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Inverness and over 50 other theatres, village halls and community centres.

The development of artists has always been at the heart of Serious. However, in 2000, we recognised that something more was required. In part brought about by the changing environment in the broader music industry, there was an increasing need for training and support for artists. Serious responded to this gap with Creative Capital – a programme looking at the needs of artists with five or more years professional experience. Out of this pioneering pilot project came Take Five – our internationally renowned professional development programme for jazz artists.

The development of the next generation of orchestral musicians is central to all the orchestra’s activities. This focus helps Sinfonia Cymru create projects that inspire young people and children and are enjoyed by many others whilst also providing essential professional development opportunities for its members.

Creativity and engagement are at the heart of the ethos of Sinfonia Viva. Publicly recognised for its work with young people and adults, Sinfonia Viva prides itself on its truly collaborative approach to education and outreach, working alongside a wide range of partners on bespoke creative musical and performance opportunities for groups around the UK.  It is dedicated to creating new and exciting music in its education work, by commissioning composers and workshop leaders to write new pieces, and developing original music directly with participants.  In

Sing Up is an award-winning, not for profit organisation providing the complete singing solution for schools through resources, training and personalised support. The world famous online Song Bank includes over 500 curriculum-linked songs for assemblies, choirs, celebrations and classrooms. The perfect complement to core subjects, singing enhances learning retention, language development, listening skills and concentration.

sound is an innovative festival of new music.  From contemporary classical to electro-acoustic music, traditional, experimental and jazz, the festival brings together a wide range of different musical styles in a variety of concerts, workshops, installations and talks across the North East of Scotland, organised in collaboration with a network of local partner organisations. sound encourages people to discover new sounds and widen their musical horizons.

Sound and Music work closely with partners around the world to develop bespoke projects involving British composers and artists, and is the national agency for new music. Our vision is to create a world where new music and sound prospers, transforming lives, challenging expectations and celebrating the work of its creators.
