WALES MILLENNIUM CENTRE

Wales Millennium Centre is Wales’ flagship arts centre, home to many arts companies such as Welsh National Opera, Ty Cerdd and BBC National Orchestra of Wales.

At Wales Millennium Centre, our programme is packed full of fun and engaging activities for people of all ages and backgrounds ranging from pre-school music, tea dances, tours, activity-filled family days and even opportunities to perform on our Glanfa stage.

Education and learning has long been at the heart of the AAM’s work — but it was not until 2010 that the orchestra formally established its AAMplify new generation programme to nurture the young artists, audiences and arts managers who represent its future.  The programme has three strands:

AAMplify audiences offers school children, students and young people aged up to 26 subsidised £3 tickets to AAM concerts.

Sitting at the heart of Aldeburgh Music is Aldeburgh Education.  A year-round, award-winning programme that delivers high quality music projects to young people, amateurs and the community. Working locally with a full breadth of the community including school pupils and teachers, young people with multiple complex needs, dementia sufferers, prisoners, the wider community and artists.  This has included a highly acclaimed production of Noye’s Fludde in Lowestoft for the Britten Centenary.

BBC CONCERT ORCHESTRA

BBC Concert Orchestra is one of Britain’s most versatile ensembles. Since 1952 they have been the house orchestra for BBC Radio 2’s Friday Night is Music Night, they give broadcasts on BBC Radio 3 and can be heard on BBC Natural History TV soundtracks. As well as concerts at the BBC Proms, the orchestra regularly perform at the Southbank Centre and Watford Colosseum.

The Education and Community Outreach Department of the BBC National Orchestra and Chorus of Wales connects with people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. Workshops, projects and concerts take the Orchestra and Chorus to venues, schools, village halls and communities and offer unique opportunities for people to work with our musicians.

The BBC Philharmonic, based in MediaCity on Salford Quays, strives to bring exciting and innovative Learning and Outreach opportunities to families, schools, students, amateur musicians and members of our local community. Through local partnerships and adventurous collaborations, we are able to offer pre-concert events, bespoke school workshops, composition based projects, professional mentoring to the next generation of orchestral players and family/community projects across Salford and the North West.
