The BSO Education & Participation Department has a thriving programme that see the Orchestra working beyond the concert hall with people of all ages and abilities, reaching communities throughout the South & South West, we organise activities ranging from inspirational workshops in schools to special performances in care homes.  A core part of the Orchestra’s mission is its work beyond the concert hall.

The City of London Festival takes place every summer, animating the unique buildings and outdoor spaces of the City with an extensive artistic programme ranging across many kinds of music, dance, street arts, visual arts, film, walks and talks and encompassing more than fifty ticketed performances and over one hundred free outdoor events.

City of London Sinfonia’s Meet the Music education and outreach programme was founded in 1988. Having been one of the first of such programmes to be established by a UK orchestra, it is now widely recognised as a leader in the field. Musicians from the Orchestra spend approximately 100 days a year making music with a wide range of groups, young and old, throughout the country.  At the heart of Meet the Music is the belief that creative music-making should be accessible to all.
