The Scottish Chamber Orchestra is one of Scotland’s five National Performing Arts Companies, and is internationally recognised as one of the finest chamber orchestras in the world. Formed in 1974 with a commitment to serve the Scottish community, it is also one of Scotland’s foremost cultural ambassadors.

The Orchestra performs throughout Scotland and appears regularly at the Edinburgh, East Neuk, St Magnus and Aldeburgh Festivals and the BBC Proms. Its busy touring schedule has recently included many European countries as well as India, the Far East and the USA.

SCO Connect (education and outreach department of the SCO) was established 28 years ago and is recognised as a leader in orchestral education and outreach.  SCO Connect aims to inspire and support people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities throughout Scotland and internationally, to become actively and creatively involved with music and listeners, performers and composers.

Schools and Young Musicians can engage with SCO Connect through our wide-ranging programme of creative education projects including Masterworks, SCO VIBE fusion orchestra and creative primary school music projects.  There are opportunities for Families and Children to get involved through our free family workshops and family concerts including baby friendly concerts Big Ears, Little Ears. Through Lifelong Learning we give hundreds of amateur musicians across the country the chance to experience the feeling of sitting in an orchestra through Scrapers & Tooters and in the Community we deliver creative music workshops to support people with dementia through SCO ReConnect.

SCO Connect also continues to facilitate the experimental output of the SCO through innovative programming including cross-art and cross-genre projects and performances, and through harnessing new technology.
