DRAKE MUSIC (DM)

Drake Music (DM) is the leading organisation in England using assistive and digital technologies to remove disabling barriers to musical participation. DM provides fully accessible instruments and opportunities so disabled people can create music. We explore different ways of working at the intersection of music, disability & technology and break new ground in terms of artistic and participatory practices.

Our team has an excellent track record, delivering participatory, training and R&D initiatives across the country. DM also has a strong reputation as an artistically-driven organisation, connecting disabled and non-disabled musicians nationally and internationally.

We place musicians at the heart of innovative creative processes and musical experiences. We do this in many ways, including: Commissioning, Hackdays, Laboratory events, where musicians play together and test out work on an audience. We also develop projects across platforms, collaborating with artists from other disciplines creating live performances, online experiences and films.

Demand for our services outstrips supply and extends internationally. We are consulted by organisations/artists from - for example - Singapore, South-Africa and the US. We advise on SEN/D music provision, contribute to policy documents (including National Plan for Music Education) and present at conferences.
