The ethos of support and nurture run throughout The Sixteen’s thriving education programme. Whether it’s introducing oratorio to babies, mentoring choristers across the country, working with over 1500 Key Stage 2 pupils a year, training teachers, nurturing student composers and conductors, or working with 800 amateur singers through our Choral Workshop Series, we delight in inviting choral fans of all ages and backgrounds into our world.

One of the major projects we run is Genesis Sixteen, a free training scheme for the next generation of professional ensemble singers. In addition to high-quality training from conductor Harry Christophers and Associate Conductor Eamonn Dougan, participants also receive individual mentoring from a member of The Sixteen and masterclasses from some of the country’s top vocal coaches. The results speak for themselves as several alumni now perform, record and tour with a number of professional ensembles including The Sixteen.

We are lucky to be partnered with a range of vibrant arts organisations and establishments including Spitalfields Music, the Genesis Foundation, Tower Hamlets Arts and Music Education Service, Music and the Deaf, Peterborough Cathedral, Liverpool Hope University and Voces Cantabiles Music. Through these partnerships and others presently being developed we can engage a much wider audience. We strive to be as diverse as possible and are currently planning a project with the homeless community and a large scale composition project involving James MacMillan and 120 amateur singers and choral directors.
